Hello, and welcome to yet another blog. As I promised, now that I’ve found this nice way to express myself easily, I will reach out to you again and again, and we’ll have conversations more often.
Today, I just want to talk about my recent habits. My schedule stays very busy. I strongly believe that upgrading ourselves every day is the only way to stay at the edge, and I like to stay at the edge.
The cost of this, of course, is that you get very little time for other things. Your job can be hectic. Then you want to do weight training, then you go swimming. Then you want to work on your personal projects, read books, and learn Spanish or some other language. All of these things take time, and time is the only thing that is limited. It’s the only thing you cannot buy. Well, when you earn money, you can buy time, because you can pay others to do the work you are doing yourself. I will do that when I reach that point.
However, what I wanted to highlight is this. When I was working, especially on my project, I used to keep something running alongside it, like a show, a movie or reels. I felt like I was filling the gaps. But it ultimately resulted in days where I was just accumulating and gathering information and learnings, while keeping my mind always engaged, always busy.
Recently, while transcribing my blogs, I get time to empty my mind, which I think is a good thing to do. This made me realise that I need to give my brain more time to stay blank, which will bring cool and unique ideas to me. It also means that when I’m doing my things, I can be more focused. And switching my mind between multiple high-intensity activities with more focus can help me do things better.
I will still continue to learn Spanish while driving back from swimming. But when I am working on my platform, I have now started to keep everything else aside and just focus on the work. This also gives me brief moments of emptiness. When my agent is doing a task I’ve asked it to do, it sometimes takes a few minutes, and I use those few minutes to do nothing, sit back and think about the project itself. I focus more. And when I get time, I just transcribe like I’m doing right now, emptying my mind and sharing it with you through my blog.
I feel that we have to constantly learn, of course, and practise humility, knowing that there are a lot of things in the world we don’t know. Because the moment we start feeling that we know everything is the moment we start stopping and restricting ourselves. Staying humble and staying curious are among the most important virtues that can help a human succeed.
I think I’m doing pretty well right now, but I don’t mistake it for being anywhere near where I want to go, or the life I want to live. Of course, there is the concept of manifestation: to live the life you want, you should feel that you are already living it. But at the same time, we have to be aware of the reality that we still have a lot of work to do. And we just keep doing it.
The Hindu scripture, the Gita, says the same thing. Do the things you think you need to do, and keep doing them without expecting a result every time. You do it because it is the right thing to do, the thing you are compelled to do. God asks humans to be in control of their minds, rather than letting their minds control them like mere puppets.
I was having this feeling this morning. I was looking out of my office window at the beautiful trees growing inside the concrete jungle, and I felt an urge to go to the mountains, sit there and feel the silence. To feel the beauty of nature, or I would say, the voices of nature: the constant humming of the crickets, the voices of the birds, feeling the calm and absorbing it.
I felt like I wanted to challenge my mind to calm down, to calm the storm. And then I thought: why do I need to go on a vacation to do it? Because I need to do it every day. There must be a way in my daily schedule that calms me down.
Swimming does a good job. It exhausts me. I like working out too; it’s almost a cure for me. On the days when I don’t work out in the morning, I don’t feel awesome. It feels like my brain is now wired to get that serotonin in the morning and charge up for the day.
All in all, I stay in a very decent zone in my mind. Sometimes, when I have a lot of work, I feel a bit more excited. Sometimes, when I’m sitting in my thoughts and they take me somewhere, I feel stressed. Then I try to rest, reflect, and identify the parts of my body that are getting tense because of those thoughts, and I try to relax them. I try a lot of things. I always do. I like to do that.
At the same time, I am also trying to create more long-term plans, month-long and quarter-long, to give myself more clarity about the different areas I’m going to focus on over the next year. Like I mentioned at the start, I am trying to focus on different things at different parts of my day. I need to extend this to a week. Maybe a week is too short, because any project sometimes takes a week or more to complete, and you have to keep putting in the effort. Maybe monthly is a better approach: I want to achieve this particular thing this month, and then I can focus on different things next month. That is how things are growing for me right now.
The one thing I am most excited about, among other things, is that I am able to reach out to you more often now. And I promise I will try my best to do it again and again, whenever I get the time. Till then, I wish you a great day ahead.
Keep shining. Keep pushing. Keep trying to be the best version of yourself.
Love and luck.
