Bhagwad Gita

What book could you read over and over again?

Hello my friend, I hope you are having a fantastic day. Today is Monday, start of a new week, I wish you fantastic week ahead.

I love reading books, and I think they are great to learn new things every day. Since the old times books have been the only way for the humans to conserve information.

Even in the current times, when we have big online or digital repositories, I feel the hard cover books are still the best way to read, because it doesn’t add to our screen time. As per the modern lifestyle, majority of a time is spent on screen Which is not that great for the health of our eyes.

Reading a book is a very formidable habit and it can truly change our life. It’s been a few years that I am reading books regularly and once I am done with a book. I start searching for the new one immediately.

There is only one book that I have read again and again and that is Bhagwad Gita. I have also read the book Cosmos by Carl Sagan but unfortunately I was not able to read it completely, the second time.

Bhagwat Gita is a holy scripture in Hindu mythology, it is basically a conversation between the God and his human friend, in the middle of a battleground, just before the start of the battle.

In in the holy tale of Mahabharata, the protagonist Arjun was reluctant to harm his own brothers, friends, teachers in a battle.

He started questioning himself, and the purpose of fighting that war, making him feel weak and unable to fight. At that time, his charioteer, God, Krishna gave him the knowledge of Bhagavad Gita.

The reason I like it is that even after being such an old mythological scripture, it makes perfect sense for a modern and educated person like me living in 2024. I believe in God, but I do not believe in superstitions. I am a devotee but I don’t allow myself to be blind of fear, greed, selfishness.

Hence, even after knowing that God is the ultimate giver of everything that I see around me, I like to consider God as my friend who wishes good for me, rather than a treasurer or someone who is distributing favours. I believe in God, I believe in the purpose of God in creating me and my fellow Creatures.

Hence, I always try to give back to others, which is my way to pay respect to the God for all the gifts, skill, talent, willpower, and everything else that God has gifted me.

I wish you a great week ahead, keep learning, keep pushing, keep winning.

Love and luck.

~R you
