Selective Personality Presentation (SPP)

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Hello my friends, I hope you are having a fantastic day today. I wish you a lot of success and love.

The best advice I got was from my brother, who shared one of his life lessons with me. I was a teenager, and was quite stubborn. This resulted in my frequent quarrel with my parents.

My parents wanted that I should stick my nose to books all the time of the day. Until I am studying, they were happy, the moment they see me doing anything else, they thought I am wasting time.

Not only this, there were so many things, that I was facing because of my habit to stay honest and straight forward.

Honesty is a valuable trait, but we should always keep it in our heart only. Especially, we should not practice it while expressing our opinion about people, unless required.

My brother advised me to try and show people, what they want to see. Especially with parents, as I don’t want to hurt them. I extended this concept to one level ahead to ‘Selective Personality Presentation’.

And, I think it is important for us to practice it in corporate setting. Though, in life we value transparency and honesty, in corporate setup the focus is more on collaboration, rather than being critical.

We should not confuse SPP with being dishonest. It revolves around us keeping our words, but it also helps us to manage the stakeholders.

When it is not the matters of heart, be what they want you to be. If they want to see you as a fool, give them that pleasure, surprise them in the end.

Love and blessings.

XOXO

      1. My friend, I did a lot of research on this on youtube. It can help you too. YT is any day better than my limited teaching skills. 😄
