Two Life Changing Technologies, Built on Internet.

Hello,

I hope you had a relaxing Sunday, and you are ready for the week to come. We live in such an exciting time. It always amazes me and fills me with joy, when I look back and see how far we have reached.

I remember the times, of landlines, and brick-solid NOKIA phones. Feels like yesterday.

There used to be charges on incoming calls. Then, flat minute charging, per second charging, do you remember those nasty SMS packs? On a lighter note, It was hard to manage a single girlfriend with 100 SMSs in 24 hours.

Then we saw invention in cellular transmission, and more comprehensive data transfer was made possible. In the last decade, the number of smartphone users has risen by whooping ~350%.

The flow of data became easier between devices, which exploded the internet. Our lives are incomplete without the internet now. It is part of bread and butter for many of us. The technologies that are changing the world now, are built on the top internet technology.

We have already experienced technology changing our lives. Now we are witnessing new technologies changing us, at a speed that is never seen before. The Internet made it possible for us humans to access a lot of data from all around the world.

Earlier the information was confined in silos and demanded considerable efforts to reach places. The Internet changed this forever and made information free-flowing. It also fuelled two awesome technologies.

Artificial Intelligence

If we can accumulate a lot of data, we can run it through computer models and programs. Discover patterns, build controls, and create execution journeys. Large Language Models like ChatGPT made so much news, but it is just the tip of the iceberg.

Artificial Intelligence has exploded the pace, at which humans can execute things. Just like the exoskeleton of Iron Man helped him to be a superhero. AI is our extended brain, working for us and breaching barriers to our ability to consume information.

A very simple example of this, new search engines. Earlier, when we searched, to create a perspective about anything, we needed to read tens to hundreds of resources ourselves. It was time and energy-consuming, making things harder for us.

AI solved it for us. If you search on google now, it will analyse multiple different resources, before summarising response for us. Saving tons of our time.

Jarvis of Iron Man or Optimus of Tesla is the future we are heading to. AI will demand vision from us because it can’t have one of its own. There is no defined purpose in general, just like we didn’t have in our childhood.

Surely it is going to replace many jobs, but it will make humans multiple times more effective. It will evolve the nature of current jobs, making it less tiring and more enriching.

A humanoid robot such as Optimus, will not only solve the long battle between siblings, who will bring the chilled water bottle from the fridge? It will also monitor 360 degrees of our surroundings and prompt us for decisions, on matters that require our immediate attention.

We don’t have to worry all the time, we just need to make decisions.

This brings us to the next technology.

Blockchain

Blockchain transformed the way, humans can make decisions collectively. With a network of interconnected computers, auditing the same thing in real-time.

When people talk about blockchain, the name that comes up is ‘Bitcoin’. Some think it is a speculative digital asset, that people gamble with. Others have made their life goal to build the world on the principles of Bitcoin.

I see it as an astonishing use case, that has demonstrated decentralised decision-making, in a trustless environment. You are not trusting, the person, you are trusting the work/energy/money spent on creating something, that is publicly auditable.

In the game theory, a player will not do anything that is first, very hard to do, and second, can immediately eliminate the player from the game. Similarly in Bitcoin, it is very expensive to hack the network, and that too will be immediately spotted and corrected.

So much pain, No gain.

It is something humans, were never able to do. Take the example of the voting process in democratic countries, it is a way to get consensus. Now imagine the last election time in your city. So much fuss, to take an important decision, collectively.

Money is the basis of human revolution, people trade, and people live. Bitcoin has revolutionised the complete global financial system. The earlier one was in silos, with barriers to enter each country. Bitcoin is a free flow of money.

It will cost you the same to send Bitcoin to your wife sitting next to you, or your business partner sitting at another corner of the globe.

Now, if we try to converge the effect of these two technologies in future. I can say with conviction that below will happen.

We can work ten times more, live in a beautiful place that we love, always connected to our team virtually. People will start spreading from Metro cities to remote corners of the world, which they find peaceful and makes them productive.

They will receive their service fee/salary in a digital currency instantly. They can directly spend the money in the place they live. Systems will become intelligent to monitor and track security vulnerabilities, making a meeting, not only real but discreet as well.

Humans will go back to nature, in clean air, and will stop consuming toxic air and water. Since the load from a single piece of land will ease, so will the pollution of natural resources.

The future is going to be so exciting. We will teleport virtually and will become more intelligent, healthy, peaceful, and enriched.

Are you waiting for such time? Or are you working with me towards it? Whatever, get ready to witness your life changing again, in the coming decade.

Mark my words. 🙂

Love and Luck.
